Joel Goodloe Singer, Conductor, Arts Administrator
Joel Goodloe currently serves as Associate Director of Rehearsal Planning & Artist Services at the Houston Grand Opera.
At HGO he oversees a team of full time administrative employees and hundreds of artists. He serves on the company's audition panel, hearing mainstage auditions and scouting talent across the country. He coordinates the company’s daily, weekly, and mainstage production schedules, as well as domestic and international production tour activities. He manages HGO's visa application process for 20-30 foreign artists each season. He oversees the ongoing implementation of ArtsVision—a comprehensive production management, casting, scheduling, and budgeting tool. Concurrently, he also recently concluded a two year engagement as the Artistic Operations Associate with the Santa Fe Opera to manage their visa process in a time of transition.
Prior to his appointment in Houston, he was the Associate Artistic Director of the Pittsburgh Festival Opera. He served as music director for various projects and produced a film of the company’s world premiere A Gathering of Sons which won a Bronze Medal in the NY Festivals International Television and Film Awards in 2019. Joel was named a 2018 Pittsburgh Business Times 30 Under 30 winner in recognition of his work with Pittsburgh Festival Opera.
A classically trained baritone, he has appeared with ensembles such as the GRAMMY Award-winning Houston Chamber Choir, the Pittsburgh Camerata, and Chatham Baroque, among others. In Pittsburgh he served as the chorus director and assistant conductor for Resonance Works, a multi-modal performing arts company.
A trained dancer, his choreography for opera has been seen across the United States.
